Obituary for Michael Edward Yohman

Michael Edward  Yohman
MICHAEL EDWARD YOHMAN, age 80, passed away on January 1, 2011, at Hadlow Center Hospice in St. Augustine, Florida. Born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio, Mr. Yohman was a 1948 graduate of Chaney High School in Youngstown. Immediately after high school he attended Youngstown State University, where he graduated in 1952 with a Bachelor’s Degree. He received a Master Degree in Education from Kent State University in 1954. Following his graduate education, Mr. Yohman worked for over 30 years for the Youngstown Public School System, as a teacher and then as Director of the Vocational Educational Program for Young Adults at the Choffin Career Center. After retiring from the Choffin Career Center, he worked as a consultant for JACS, a non-profit educational organization in Washington, DC. He also worked as a spotter for the Pittsburgh Maulers of the former USFL. Known to enjoy golf and a good cigar, Mr. Yohman also swam every day, even through his illness. He is survived by his daughter, Paula Rios (John) of Mesquite, TX, and his son, Mark E. Yohman (Jodi Santini) of Pittsburgh, PA; his grandchildren, Hannah, John Michael, Olivia, Erica and Madison; a sister, Betsy Mitchell and his ex-wife, Carol Allison (nee Buchenic). Mr. Yohman was preceded in death by his wife, the late Arlene (nee Holland); his son, the late Jeffrey Yohman (Pamela) and his mother, the late Katherine Yohman (nee Askey). A memorial mass will be celebrated on Thursday, 10:00AM at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 5950 State Road 16, Saint Augustine, FL.
