Memories of Uncle John

My best recent memory of Uncle John was from this past summer in Wildwood. He would sit on the porch overlooking the ocean, just relaxing and watching the activity on the beach and boardwalk. By chance, the week we were down there was a full moon which cast a beautiful shimmer over the ocean. Uncle John was so excited to share this sight, he would say, "Come out here and see this. Look how beautiful it is." And it truly was beautiful. An older memory was from one of my girls' communion parties. All the kids were doing the chicken dance. Not to be left out, Uncle John came out and joined the circle. While the kids gestured the hand motions and clapped, Uncle John picked up his walker and tapped it on the floor to the beat of the music! I think the most wonderful quality a person can possess is enjoying the simple pleasures of life. It was obvious to all who knew him that Uncle John was happiest enjoying the everyday moments spent in the company of family and friends.
